I have continued to read more following Robin Williams death. Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, pretty much anything writing articles about this. I have also read many, many comments. Some were sad and some extremely rude. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, giving careful consideration and just the underlining circumstances, I do not believe what Williams did was selfish nor taking the"easy" way out. This man had an illness. An illness that exhaust people. One can never really explain what an illness can do to someone unless you have experienced it first hand. How can I explain the physical and mental symptoms of, lets say, MS if I have never experienced it. Having an illness changes a persons thought process. How? You would have to ask them.
Even with everything that Williams has been suffering through, I do not believe he did this to take this easy way out. I do not believe Robin Williams killed himself; I do believe his illness did. Depression is a serious illness that no one should take likely. More needs to be done to help with this, and I don't mean providing medications with side effects that can make it even worse. Off to a side note, here is a prime example of what I am talking about. A family member of mine went to see a new pain specialist to help with the pain in their hips from double surgeries. Prescribed a new medicine, here are the side effects:
~Thoughts about suicide or dying.
~Attempts to commit suicide.
~New or worsen depression.
~New or worsen anxiety.
~Feeling agitated or restless.
~Panic attacks.
~Insomnia.
~New or worsen irritability.
~Acting aggressive, being angry or violent.
~Acting on dangerous impulses.
~Extreme increase in activity and talking (mania)
Can you believe this shit? However, you won't have any pain... maybe. Oh, lets not forget that the doctor advised my family member that these new pain meds were safer than Lortab. If you or anyone you know suffer from depression and have ever thought about suicide, please use the number below.
